Sing, Spell, Read and Write
At first glance, Sing, Spell, Read and Write is just another curriculum with lots of bells and whistles to clutter up your homeschool day. But when you start going through the lessons and your child actually starts to pick up on the sounds and starts to read, it's priceless!!
I picked up Sing, Spell, Read and Write for my second child in First Grade. We had done the Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons and it just wasn't...easy, that is. She is a child who we had a hard time understanding because she's always in motion and always singing. It was almost in desperation that I bought the program because I just didn't know how to teach this child to read. My first child didn't work like this! :o)
Within a few days, I started to see a change! She was engaged by the songs (even though her big sister was NOT) and the shapes on the pages started to make sense. The box came with games for her to learn her sounds and even a treasure box with prizes! Sing, Spell, Read and Write was just what she needed!
If you've got a child like my second one, I HIGHLY encourage you to give Sing, Spell, Read and Write a try. If you buy a used box, make sure you get all new workbooks so you aren't sitting down for your first lesson and find out you're missing things. Also, if you need extra toys for your treasure box, you can pick up goodies at a local dollar or discount store.
