Switched On Schoolhouse
Alpha Omega's Switched On Schoolhouse, or SOS, is a wonderful alternative for book based homeschool learning. You can choose the entire curriculum, including Math, Language Arts, Science, Bible and History, or individual subjects.
The curriculum is not for everyone. If the child needs physical interaction in their schooling, this might not be the best choice.
However, if you have a child that loves visual and audio learning, this might be a great option to consider. If your child prefers working things out on paper, you can add this element to the curriculum.
The program includes audios, videos and immediate feedback on their assignments. If they answer a question correctly, they get positive reinforcement right after they submit their answers. If the answer they give is incorrect, there is an option to give your child multiple "chances" to get the answer correct.
My daughter used this curriculum for her 3rd grade year and really enjoyed it. Her favorite subject was History and with good reason. The program had some amazing videos that kept her interest. And THAT is what learning is all about!
